The Segway Snarler is a fun and versatile ATV. Like all ATV’s the 12V battery tends to drain easily if not maintained properly, meaning using a trickle charger. The ideal time to use a trickle charger is when you are finished using your ATV for the day. The best thing an owner can do is to keep a trickle charger on the battery whenever you are not using the vehicle. When it comes to batteries, there are really only two constants: Either your battery is getting charged or your battery is self-discharging. A properly sized trickle charger will have sufficient amperage to keep the battery fully charged and ready to go for the next use.

Whenever I’m done using my Segway Snarler AT6 L for the day, I always put the 12V battery on charge. The only hassle is that I need to remove the seat, get the charger, connect the correct wires to the 12V battery pins and start charging. When done – I need to reverse this process to be able to get going again. I found a much easier way to put the ATV on charge and it’s quick, safe and easy to manage.

In this guide I’ll give step-by-step instructions on how to install a CTEK Comfort Indicator Panel, with a compatible CTEK charger (in this case the CTEK MXS 5.0 charger). You can probably use other variants of chargers and/or hot-plugs for quick-charging.

What you need:

  • CTEK charger
  • CTEK Comfort Indicator Panel (hot-plug)
  • Some tools (screwdrivers, knife, etc)
  • Some basic wiring and technical skills

Approx time used:

  • About 1 to 2 hours

Our main goal is to go:

From this, to this

  1. Before we start, make sure to take the seat off the ATV and have a look at the task ahead.
  2. Unplug the seat sensor from the connector and put the seat somewhere out of the way, so you may work more efficiently.
  3. Remove the four plugs that holds the front cover in place, use a flat screwdriver and pull gently. (You are reusing these, so be careful not to damage them.)
    4 plugs
  4. Getting the cover off is quite straight forward, you just have to pull hard on the sides and press down. Eventually it should come off. (Don’t be afraid to use some muscle – nothing should be able to break, but use caution.)
  5. Flip the cover around – gently minding the existing wires.
  6. Use the hole template, that comes in the box with the CTEK Comfort Indicator Panel, to mark the spot where you want the hot-plug to be.
  7. I also removed the small cover to ble able to work and move more freely. There are two screws on each side. It’s latched together, so use a flat screwdriver to gently separate them.
  8. There are multiple ways to probably make the rectangle hole, depending on the tools you have at your disposal. I did a combination of first drilling small holes, then bigger holes and then went to finish off with a knife. The plastic is fairly easy to cut, so having a sharp knife gets you a long way. Whatever you end up doing and using, just make sure you soften the plastic edges in case there are any sharp edges or residue.

  9. When done, just insert the cable and click the hot-plug in place. Make sure it’s tight and properly clicked in place.
  10. It should look something like this.
  11. The remaining steps are pretty much self-explanatory. You just need to find a way for the cable to go all the way back to the battery. This is how I ended up doing it.
  12. There are few ways to attach the wires to the battery, you can decide how you want to do it depending on what kind of battery you have. When done, make sure all is fastened properly and the rubber cap cover is over the battery pins.
  13. After connecting the wires, the CTEK Comfort Indicator Panel (hot-plug) should now be operational and one of the LED’s should light up. Depending on your State of Charge (SoC), the lights should reflect what state your battery is in. Mine is blinking green and healthy as it’s been charging daily when not in use.
  14. You may now take off the cover cap and plug in your cable from the CTEK charger.

  15. The final steps is basically reversing the first steps and putting everything back. Don’t forget the small screws to the folding cover and plug in all four plugs on the front cover.
  16. That’s it – pat yourself on the shoulder for a job well done!

Please share and comment if you found the guide helpful.
Cheers!

If Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 gives this error when trying to backup a job:

JetError -501, JET_errLogFileCorrupt, Log file is corrupt

There is a way to solve this. This error is due to either the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 database not being stopped correctly, due to an unexpected shutdown of the computer, or the volume where the database is located has run out of free space available or experienced some other unexpected error.

To solve the problem, we must first obtain the path of the database with problems.

Step 1: Obtain the path of the affected database(s)

To do this, we need to generate the log files first:

Chose to export the Proxy logs under Components (nothing else is needed):

Select a location to export the logs to:

Open one of the Veeam.Archiver.Proxy_xxx log files:

The quickest way to find the affected database is using the Find feature in Notepad and type inn the word: jeterror

When you have located the affected database repository.adb file and it’s location, you may proceed to the next step. In this example the path is:

\\Backup-NAS\o365backup\2021\repository.adb

Mount the backup location share to a drive, ie Z:

net use z: \\Backup-NAS\o365backup\

Step 2: Stop services

Start Services and stop the two following services:

Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 Service

Veeam Backup Proxy for Microsoft Office 365 Service

Step 3: Very the status of the affected database(s)

We can verify the status of the affected database with the esentutl tool:

esentutl /mh repository.adb

Look for the State field and confirm it reads: Dirty Shutdown (look at the screenshot above)

Step 4: Repair the database(s)

Start the esentutl tool with this command (replace temp directory path with the one you created above):

esentutl /p repository.adb

When executing, the following warning appears. Just click OK and continue with the repair:

This process is going to take along time – potentially many hours. Especially if you have a large database repository. So be patient and let it finish:

When it’s finished, you can type in the command DIR. You will find a new file called repository.INTEG.RAW – delete this file.

Step 5: Final steps

Go back to Services and start the two services that was stopped in Step 2:

Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 Service

Veeam Backup Proxy for Microsoft Office 365 Service

That’s it! You should now have a working database repository and all should work as normal.

This guide will show how you can get Altibox TV to work when used with Ubiquiti UniFi devices. Please note that this guide will only cover the following scenario: Altibox VMG Hjemmesentral in Bridge Mode, with UniFi Security Gateway (USG) and two UniFi switches in separate rooms with one Ethernet cable running between them.

Simple illustration:

The whole idea here is to set up VLAN tagged switches in each room so the VMG can transfer its IPTV signals between them. Altibox have three VLANs assigned to the VMG:

  • VLAN 101 – TV
  • VLAN 102 – Internet
  • VLAN 103 – IP telephone and management (not used in this guide)

Note: Going forward with the guide, I will assume that you have a functional network up and running. With USG, the switches and maybe some access points to access the internet. The configuration and screenshots are from the UniFi Controller in Classic Mode (version 5.14.23).

  1. Log into your UniFi Controller and go to Settings -> Networks -> Create new network

Type in a name, i.e altibox TV, select the purpose VLAN Only, type in 101 in the VLAN box, click Enable IGMP snooping and finally click SAVE.
  2. Go back to your UniFi overview and go to Devices and choose the switch you want to configure first. Click on one of the ports that you want to use for the IPTV signals. (In this illustration I chose port 14.)
  3. Click the little pencil icon to edit the port settings.
When inside the edit box, select altibox TV (101) from the dropdown under Switch Port Profile and click Apply. (No other settings needs changing.)
  4. Let the UniFi Controller provision the new settings and repeat the steps above (steps 2 and 3) on the second switch. (You can choose whatever port you want.)
  5. Next you need to connect an Ethernet cable from the VMG to the newly configured port on the switch. When the VMG is in Bridge Mode the LAN ports 1, 2 and 3 are used for IPTV Decoder signals and LAN port 4, as you already should know, is used as the WAN link to the USG.
In my example, I connected a cable from LAN port 1 on the VMG to port 14 on the UniFi switch.
  6. In the TV-room side, connect a cable from the IPTV Decoder’s LAN port to the port on the second UniFi switch you enabled the Switch Port Profile to.
  7. Turn on the power button on the IPTV Decoder and let it boot up. If you haven’t used the decoder before, it will probably have to be updated with the latest software. This is an automated process and you just need to let it finish.
  8. That’s it! You should now have TV signals via VLAN using one Ethernet cable.

The post Step by step guide of installing UISP/UNMS on a self-hosted cloud server – DigitalOcean first appeared on satheesh.net.]]>
In this article I describe how to install a fresh copy of the freely available Ubiquiti UISP, also known as UNMS, on a self-hosted cloud server on DigitalOcean (referral link). This guide will focus on installing it on a Linux virtual server (or Droplet as it’s called on DigitalOcean). It’s very easy to install and only costs about $10 a month.

The minimal requirements for UISP:

So in this guide we will be using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS 64-bit. There are newer Ubuntu versions available, but to make sure that the server is working as intended and the installation files has been thoroughly testet – we are installing it on 18.04 LTS. (You can use the 20.04 LTS version as well, the guide is the same.)

You should also have a valid sub- or domain name, to be able to use SSL encryption from Let?s Encrypt on your portal site (but not required).

Installation guide:

  1. Start by going to DigitalOcean and create and account or log in to your existing account.
  2. On the top right corner you should see a green button with the word Create on it, click on it and choose Droplets.
  3. On the Create Droplets page, choose Ubuntu under Distributions and select 18.04. (LTS) x64 from the dropdown menu.Create droplets
  4. Now, depending on the amount of clients and devices you may have, choose a plan accordingly. But for a normal installation like this with a few clients and devices, the minimal requirements stated earlier in the beginning of this guide should do just fine: Shared CPU -> Basic -> $10/mo

    Choose a plan
  5. Choose a datacenter region that is close to you, the Droplet (virtual server) will created there. Also remember to select the Monitoring option under Select additional options.
    Choose datacenter
  6. Under Authentication you can either choose to use your public SSH key or just create a root password. Make sure it meets the password requirements. Remember to write the password down as it will not be sent to you via email.
    Authentication
  7. The last remaining steps is to choose a hostname for your Droplet, add tags if you want and assign Droplet to a project if you have created this beforehand. I also recommend to Enable backups under Add backups, to make sure you are protected in the event of an upgrade failure on the software down the line or something similar (purely optional). Hit the green Create Droplet button to start creating your server.Important! By enabling backup an additional cost is added and with the Basic $10/mo Droplet we chose earlier, this backup costs $2 extra per month. (Depending on which Droplet you chose, this may vary and always adds 20% of the initial Droplet price.)
    Finalize and create
  8. Creating the Droplet shouldn’t take more than a few seconds and you can see the bar move quite quickly.
    Droplets-creating
  9. When the Droplet is created it will be highlighted with a green spot just before the Droplets name, indicating it’s ready and powered on.
    Finished
  10. Fire up your favourite terminal client (MacOS Terminal, PuTTY, etc) and log into your newly created server with the IPv4 address of the Droplet. Accept the fingerprint key by typing yes followed by the ENTER-key. Write in your chosen password from earlier and press ENTER-key:
    ssh -l root 159.89.102.200
    Terminal login
  11. There are usually a few updates to the Linux distro that can be updated. I recommend doing this before proceeding with the installation of UISP. To check for updates and then start the update process, write in the first command followed by the ENTER-key. And lastly the second command to start installing the updates followed by Y and the ENTER-key.
sudo apt updateUpdate Linuxsudo apt upgrade
  12. Let the update run for a while. When it’s close to the end, you will be prompted to choose an option for updating the menu.ls boot. Just chose Keep the local version currently installed and press the ENTER-key to continue.
    Progressbar
    menu
  13. When it’s done and you are back at the terminal prompt, you can start installing the UISP followed by the ENTER-key. The command below will always install the newest, stable version that is listed in the Software Releases section on the Ubiquiti Community:curl -fsSL https://unms.com/v1/install > /tmp/unms_inst.sh && sudo bash /tmp/unms_inst.sh
  14. Answer Yes when asked if you would you like to set the overcommit memory setting to 1 and let it finish installing.
    memory setting
  15. Congratulations! When you are back at the terminal prompt, you are finished with installing UISP on Linux.
    Finished
  16. You can now start your favourite internet browser and type inn the IP address of the droplet in the address bar. If you have your own domain name, it is recommended to use a FQDN for your Droplet. Add your IP address in the DNS settings for your domain name at your registrar and use the domain name in your internet browser to access the newly created Droplet (UISP cloud server). For example: uisp.mydomain.com
  17. Agree to the Terms and conditions and Privacy policy and click Continue.
  18. From here you should be able to finish setting up the rest of the UISP server. It’s just a matter of creating an account and start adding devices. There are numerous articles, videos and help on this topic. You can ask questions in the comments if something is unclear or you need help. And I’ll try to answer them as best I can. Good luck!

Now and then when updating Office 365 to newer versions, Outlook and other Office apps will generate an error when opening the app. This often happens with Outlook and while uninstalling and reinstalling Office 365 might fix the problem, it doesn’t always work. Especially on Windows 8.x.

You might try doing this from an elevated command prompt:

1. Run the following command: cd “C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\ClickToRun”

2. Run the following command: OfficeC2RClient.exe /changesetting Channel=Broad

3. Run the following command: OfficeC2RClient.exe /update user

Hopefully this fixes your issues and the problem will go away. Needless to say, Windows 8.x is not recommended and Windows 10 is now the best option on computers.

Sometimes Outlook 2016 with Office 365 account keeps prompting for the password. After entering it, an error pops up “Your computer’s Trusted Platform Module has malfunctioned. If this error persists, contact your system administrator with the error code 80090030”.

Note: This will not affect users who use MFA (Multi Factor Authentication), so this can be enabled to solve this specific problem.

Workaround 1:

1. On the affected machine navigate to:

C:\users\%username%\AppData\Local\Packages\

2. Rename the folder:
Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy

to:

Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy.old

3. Log out and back in again.

Workaround 2:

Note: This involves disabling modern authentication. Do not consider this as a permanent fix.

1. On the affected machine, run regedit and navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Office > 16.0 > Common > Identity

2. Create a new DWORD (32 Bit) entry with the value 0 (zero):

  • Name: EnableADAL
  • Value: 0

3. Restart Outlook. (It may prompt for the password.) Note: This disables “Modern Authentication”.
