FRT No: 33051006

Special Tools Required:

Perform this procedure on both sides of the vehicle, if necessary.

  1. Chock the front wheels.
  2. Use a floorjack to lift the rear corner of the vehicle.
  3. Disconnect the electric parking brake caliper harness.
Note: If necessary, remove the rear wheel.
Note: After connecting the electric parking brake caliper harness, wrap the connector seam with electrical tape to prevent dirt ingress.
  4. Connect the black connector on the harness tool to the electric parking brake caliper.
  5. Connect the gray female connector on the harness tool to the outboard port of the reworked electric parking brake controller.
Note: Neither the gray male connector on the harness tool nor the center port on the reworked electric parking brake controller are used in this procedure.

Caution: Ensure that the external 12V power supply is turned off before continuing this procedure. The clamps on the harness tool are not insulated.

  1. Connect the positive and negative clamps on the harness tool to the corresponding terminals on the external 12V power supply. Ensure that the positive and negative clamps do not touch each other.
  2. Turn on the 12V power supply.

Caution: After the next step, the vehicle will be free-rolling. Ensure that the wheel chocks are secure.

  1. Hold down the button on the harness tool that is labeled “RELEASE” until the sound of the caliper motor is no longer audible. This usually takes approximately 4 seconds.
Note: If the calipers do not release, turn off the 12V power supply, then turn it back on. Repeat step 7.
  2. Turn off the 12V power supply.
  3. Remove the positive and negative clamps from the 12V power supply.
  4. Disconnect the harness tool from the caliper motor.
Caution: Do not reconnect the vehicle’s harness to the electric parking brake caliber until the vehicle has arrived at its destination. Reconnecting the harness might cause the electric parking brake to re-engage.
  5. Reinstall the rear wheel.
