Front Halfshaft Assembly - RH (Remove and Replace)

Removal
Air suspension vehicles:
Depressurize the front RH air spring
(refer to procedure)

Disconnect 12V power
(refer to procedure)
.
Remove the front RH wheel
(refer to procedure)
.
While having an assistant press the brake pedal, remove and discard the nut that secures the hub to the halfshaft (torque 205 Nm).

Remove the wedge-lock washer.
Release the caliper and hang it out of the working area.
Caution:
To avoid damage to the brake line, the brake caliper must be supported at all times.
Remove and discard the nut that secures the tie rod to the knuckle (torque 103.5 Nm).
Caution:
To prevent ball joint damage, always hold the ball joint pin with a wrench while loosening or tightening the lock nut.

Release the tie rod from the knuckle.
Remove and discard the nut that secures the sway bar link to the knuckle (torque 70 Nm).

To prevent ball joint damage, always hold the ball joint pin with a wrench while loosening or tightening the lock nut.

Release the rubber grommets that secure the front wheel speed sensor harness to the body (x2) and the knuckle (x1).

Remove and discard the bolt that secures the upper control arm ball joint to the knuckle (torque 60 Nm).

Release the upper control arm from the knuckle.
Release the sway bar from the knuckle.
Remove and discard the bolt that secures the shock absorber to the lower control arm (torque 140 Nm).

Use a deadblow hammer to release the halfshaft from the hub.
Caution:
Take care not to damage component(s).

Remove the HV battery
(refer to procedure)

Working from underneath the vehicle, use a deadblow hammer to release the RH halfshaft from the jackshaft.

Working from the wheelwell, remove the RH halfshaft from the vehicle.
Caution:
To avoid damage to the halfshaft boots and oil seals, exercise caution when removing and installing halfshafts.
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Replace all Patchbolt(s).
Caution:
Replace all nylon-insert locknuts.

Pressurize the front RH air spring.
