Perform this procedure on both sides of the vehicle, if necessary.
-
Chock the front wheels.
-
Use a floorjack to lift the rear corner of the vehicle.
-
Disconnect the parking brake caliper harness.
Note: If necessary, remove the rear wheel.
Note: After connecting the electric parking brake caliper harness, wrap the connector
seam with electrical tape to prevent dirt ingress.
-
Connect the connector on the tool harness to the parking brake caliper.
Warning: After the next step,
the vehicle will be free-rolling. Ensure that the wheel chocks are secure.
-
Hold down the button on the tool harness until the sound of the caliper motor is no
longer audible. This usually takes approximately 4 seconds.
Note: If the parking brake calipers do
not release, turn off the 12V power supply, then turn it back on. Repeat step 7.
-
Disconnect the tool harness from the parking brake caliper.
Caution: Do not reconnect
the vehicle’s harness to the parking brake caliper until the vehicle has arrived
at its destination. Reconnecting the harness might cause the parking brake to
re-engage.
-
Reinstall the rear wheel.
