Position the license plate alignment tool on the upper grille
bright trim.
Tip: If necessary, use painter's tape to hold the
license plate alignment tool to the fascia.
Use a paint pen to mark the fascia at the center of the holes (x3)
in the license plate alignment tool.
Remove the license plate alignment tool.
If the license plate alignment tool is not available:
Test fit the license plate bracket. Ensure that the middle hole in
the license plate bracket is centered to the middle of the front
upper grille brightwork and the bottom of the license plate bracket
is flush with the front fascia.
Tip: Use
painter's tape or similar means of ensuring that the hole is
completely centered to the brightwork.
Use a paint pen to mark the fascia at the center of the holes (x3)
in the license plate bracket.
Remove the license plate bracket.
Use a 7/64 in (3 mm) drill bit to drill a hole through the fascia in the
areas marked in the previous step.
Warning: Wear
protective eyewear and hearing protection when drilling.
Caution: Only
drill through the skin of the fascia. Drilling too far can result in
damage to the vehicle.
Clean the affected area.
Install the license plate bracket by securing it with the self-tapping
screws (x3) (torque 0.5 Nm).
