Seal - Primary - Rear Door - LH (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Remove the upper rear door glass (refer to procedure).
  2. Fully open the rear door.
  3. Remove the rear door primary seal from the vehicle.
    Note: Components have been removed in this graphic to aid clarity.
  4. Carefully remove all butyl and residue.
    Caution: Care must be taken to avoid damage to paintwork and exterior trim.

Installation

  1. Clean the affected area with alcohol and allow it to dry completely.
  2. Install the new rear door primary seal:
    1. Align the cut outs in the new primary seal with the upper hinges and side bumpers on the upper door.
    2. Install the seal starting from the top of the seal and working towards the bottom.
      Note: Ensure that all parts of the seal are 42 mm from the body.
    3. Press firmly on the seal using a silicone seam roller to ensure that it is fully seated.
      Caution: Take care not to damage component(s).
  3. Install butyl cord behind the new seal.
    Tip: Stand inside the vehicle with the door closed to install the top portion of the butyl cord.
  4. Reinstall all components that were removed for access.
