Retainer - Sill - Front - LH (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Remove the HV Battery (refer to procedure).
  2. Remove the front LH wheel arch liner (refer to procedure).
  3. Drill out the rivets (x3) that secure the sill retainer to the frame rail.
    Warning: Wear protective eyewear and hearing protection when drilling.

  4. Working from the front wheel well, slide the sill retainer out from the frame rail.
    Tip: Use a screwdriver to push up on the sill retainer from the bolt holes if the sill retainer is snagged on the frame rail.
    Note: Components have been removed in this graphic to aid clarity.

  5. Discard the barrel nuts.

Installation

  1. Hold the new sill retainer up to the frame rail and ensure that the holes line up correctly.
    Note: The front and rear sill retainers are not interchangeable.

  2. If necessary, lower the vehicle to a comfortable working height.
  3. Place new barrel nuts in their proper location on top of the new sill retainer.

Note: The sill retainer should be on the inboard side of the brake rotor to ensure that it is not bent or damaged during installation.

  1. Carefully push the new sill retainer into the frame rail towards the rear of the vehicle until the holes are aligned.

  2. Install rivets (x3) to secure the sill retainer to the frame rail.
    Tip: Have an assistant temporarily hold the sill retainer in place with one of the other rivets while installing the first rivet.
  3. Reinstall the rear wheel arch liner (refer to procedure).
  4. Install the HV Battery (refer to procedure).
